KCC Fall Potluck


The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) invites you to join us for our 3rd annual Fall Potluck!

Bring a dish to share, place settings, and anything else you’d like to grill/eat. Complimentary drinks and samples of bulgogi and kimchi will be provided by the KCC.

You are welcome to come and go as you please. Additional details are included below. We hope to see you there!

Where: Biddle Shelter at Raccoon River Park(2500 Grand Avenue in West Des Moines)

Online Korean Language Course Registration-CLOSED

UPDATE (9/23/1016):  Thank you for your interest in our pilot, online Korean language course..  At this time, we are no longer able to accept any additional students.  Please be on the look out for future offerings and we hope to hear from you!  -KCC

Korean Cultural Center of Iowa is collaborating with the University of Iowa King Sejong Institute to bring a Korean language course to Des Moines.  We will offer this course free of charge only this one time.

Class will begin on Monday, 9/26/2016.  We will announce the specific timings soon.

This is an introductory course in hangul (the Korean alphabet) and basic Korean expressions.  Korean cultural aspects will also be important in this class.  Therefore, students will have a chance to learn and discuss Korean culture and society.  Students will be asked to watch lecture videos, submit homework online, and meet with instructors of the University of Iowa King Sejong Institute online once a week through the video conferencing program Zoom.

Free Tickets to the Fair!

Annyeonghaseyo! The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) is seeking 4 volunteers to represent the organization at the upcoming Global Citizenship Day at the Iowa State Fair. This event is being organized by the Iowa State University Extension and Iowa 4-H. The purpose of this event is for organizations to share cultural knowledge, experiences, and to promote general global awareness - an educational, interactive, and fun afternoon for all involved!

When: August 12 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Where: 4-H Exhibits Building at the Iowa State Fairgrounds
What: With your support, we can ensure the Korean community is well-represented at this event so attendees can learn about Korean culture and participate in our cultural craft activity. Please sign up using the link below to volunteer for a shift.


Fair admission tickets will be provided. Before and after your short shift, you are free to explore the Fair!  Additional details and information will be provided to interested volunteers.

Inspired Korea in Iowa: 2016 Korean Day

You Are Invited!

The Korean Consulate General in Chicago would love to invite Korean adoptees and their families to "Inspired Korea in Iowa: 2016 Korean Day" organized by the consulate and CJ Bio America in Iowa.  This will be a great opportunity for both Korean adoptees and their families to experience and enjoy Korean culture that day.  We would all be honored if you could come and celebrate the event with us.

Venue: Prairie Meadows (1 Prairie Meadows Dr. Altoona, IA 50009)
Date: Saturday August 13, 2016
Time:  10:00 am- 2:00 pm

2016 Korean Village Volunteer Signup at CelebrAsian


The Korean Cultural Center will represent Korea at this year's annual Asian Heritage Festival, CelebrAsian!  This two-day event will be held on May 27th and 28th at the Western Gateway Park in Des Moines.  The Western Gateway Park is the site of other city festivals such as the Italian Festival and Arts Festival.

The Korean village will feature three tents to celebrate and showcase how Koreans in Iowa are lighting the way everyday.
